About Us

Who We Are

Omega Daughter, LLC

Omega Daughter, LLC is the direct vision and creation of its founder, Hon. Stephanie M. Jones. Before her appointment to the bench, Judge Jones' legal career primarily focused in the labor and employment arena, initially representing management and then eventually representing the government as a Senior Trial Attorney at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Each of the clients or claimants whom Judge Jones encountered, irrespective of their legal issue or petition, has made a lasting impression and challenged her to be a stronger attorney, counselor, and jurist, a more compassionate servant-leader, and an overall better advocate and person. Judge Jones has always strived to have the highest level of character, integrity, professional expertise, and leadership in all things.

Omega Daughter, LLC's focus is providing extraordinary training and thorough investigations so that its clients can have the necessary tools to move forward and/or resolve potential litigation. Omega Daughter, LLC is not a law firm and does not provide litigation or counseling services.
The meaning in a nAME
Judge Jones is an East Tennessee native, who grew up in Alcoa, Tennessee. The Jones family has deep roots in Alcoa. In the 1930s, Judge Jones’ grandfather, Jesse L. Jones, Sr. moved to Alcoa and eventually began working for the Aluminum Company of America (“ALCOA”) for which the city of Alcoa is named. Judge Jones’ beloved grandmother, Marie H. Jones, moved to Alcoa in 1940. The two wed in August of 1942 and out of their union, nine wonderful children were born.

One of those nine children is Judge Jones’ father, Larry L. Jones, Sr. “Daddy” as Judge Jones affectionately calls him, graduated from Alcoa High School in 1968 and matriculated at East Tennessee State University, graduating in 1972. While a student at ETSU, Larry Sr. pledged and became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Founded in November 1911, Omega Psi Phi is a historically black fraternity. Larry Sr. was extremely honored to be a member of his “frat,” always wearing his Greek letters at every opportunity. The photo shown is Larry Sr. and Judge Jones when she was a baby. You will note that Larry Sr. is proudly wearing a shirt with his fraternity’s crest adorned on his arm. Larry Sr. sadly and unexpectedly passed away in 2013.

When Judge Jones was in the process of creating this company, she wanted to honor her cherished father and did so by referencing two of his favorite things: his fraternity and his baby girl. As such, the name Omega Daughter honors who Judge Jones isthe daughter of an Omega Man. This firm and everything it stands for is a dedication to not only her father but all her ancestors who showed her that family is everything.

Founder/Facilitator

Hon. Stephanie M. Jones

Founder and creator of Omega Daughter, LLC, Judge Jones began her career in private practice, representing employers in labor and employment matters. However, she always felt a calling to be a public servant. With an unwavering commitment to justice, Judge Jones took a leap of faith and joined the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), where she was the sole counsel in the successful resolution of 21 employment discrimination cases, including class actions, and became an expert in labor and employment law.

Judge Jones has been an active member of the American Bar Association (ABA) and rose to become one of only three At-Large Labor and Employment Law Section Council Members representing the public sector. Through the ABA, she has shared her expertise on cutting-edge labor and employment law topics and mentored other public sector attorneys, encouraging leadership and meaningful contributions. Judge Jones’ character and integrity shine through in all her endeavors. She has played a pivotal role in developing ABA programs, revising panel descriptions, selecting speakers, and promoting diversity and inclusiveness in publications. Recognized as a thought leader and subject matter expert on driving Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Judge Jones was repeatedly appointed to lead the ABA’s development of educational programming in the DEI area. Notably, at the 15th annual Labor and Employment Law Conference, she spearheaded a keynote panel on the significant contributions of black and brown transgender women in the civil rights movement. A major benefit of her ABA labor and employment work is that it operates on the consensus principle, which allows for differing viewpoints to be fairly represented. Judge Jones absolutely agrees with the consensus principle because it leads to better decision-making and policy choices.

In 2017, Judge Jones’ exceptional qualifications led to her appointment as an Administrative Law Judge, becoming the first ever Black judge in the Knoxville, Tennessee office. Her ability to comprehend complex information quickly, empathize with others, evaluate situations fairly, and synthesize innovative solutions made her a valuable asset in this role. “At my core, I am an advocate and truth-seeker. I also enjoy helping people navigate systems that they do not understand or lack the capability to understand.” Eager to share her knowledge and expertise, she founded Omega Daughter, LLC, with the goal of educating and assisting individuals in resolving labor and employment issues, fostering more positive workplace environments. This business idea emerged from her experience at the EEOC, where employer representatives often sought her training expertise after litigation.

Her distinguished career was further honored in 2022 when Judge Jones was inducted as a Fellow into The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the field. Before joining the workforce some twenty years ago, Judge Jones graduated from Duke University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Drama, and Religion; and received her Juris Doctorate from The University of Tennessee College of Law in 2001, making the Dean’s Lists at both institutions.

Where We're Headed

Our Trajectory

Judge Jones’ trajectory to founding and creating Omega Daughter, LLC has been a unique one, much like the CEO herself. Judge Jones started in private practice representing employers in labor and employment matters. During the beginning of her career, Judge Jones, like many young attorneys, struggled to find a place where she felt she was at “home” because she felt that at her core, she was a public servant. Eventually, Judge Jones made a leap of faith and applied to work for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”).

The transition from private practice to public servant was the correct one. While at the EEOC, Judge Jones was sole counsel in the successful resolution of 21 employment discrimination cases, including several class actions. Note this does not include all the resolutions that were done before litigation occurred. At any given time, Judge Jones also was responsible for advising six to eight investigators, whose workloads ranged from 100 to 250 cases each. She provided daily legal advice and discussed strategies for investigating their cases. In her litigation, she was responsible for assessing the value of the case, making litigation recommendations to the EEOC Commissioners, and developing and implementing litigation and settlement strategies. She consistently drafted high quality pleadings, briefs, and motions; provided timely notice and responses to opposing counsel; and engaged in fair and effective discovery in all her labor and employment law cases and matters. She actively worked with involved parties to reach mutual resolutions on individual and systemic workplace discrimination and harassment claims, seeking early settlement opportunities or alternative dispute resolution, where appropriate. She also regularly maintained her professionalism even when she was not extended the same courtesy by opposing counsel (or others), during mediations or hearings. In the end, Judge Jones’ role at the EEOC allowed her to become a stronger subject matter expert in labor and employment law, build bridges of understanding to resolve sensitive and complex cases, and maintain the highest character of professionalism and public service required in the legal profession.

In 2010, while working at the EEOC, Judge Jones was selected as a Government Fellow for the Labor and Employment Law Section of the American Bar Association (ABA) and assigned to the Section’s Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Committee. Since that time, Judge Jones has been an active and engaged ABA member, rising through the ranks to currently serve as one of only three At-Large Labor and Employment Law Section Council Members representing the public sector. Through the ABA, she has spoken on cutting edge labor and employment law topics with colleagues across the world. She also has advanced civil discourse on labor and employment law matters by engaging with both private and public sector colleagues representing employees, management, unions, and the government at ABA meetings and conferences.

Indeed, a major benefit of her ABA labor and employment work is that it operates on the consensus principle, which allows for differing viewpoints to be fairly represented. Judge Jones absolutely agrees with the consensus principle because it leads to better decision-making and policy choices. She developed her servant-leadership skills through the ABA and continues to champion public sector representation on programs, publications, and leadership. Jones also mentors other public sector attorneys and helps them assume speaker and leadership positions. Public sector attorneys are often underrepresented (and oftentimes, diverse), and these opinions and experiences help further the ABA’s diversity while furthering civil discourse on labor and employment issues.

In all her ABA work—whether developing programs, revising the panel descriptions, selecting speakers, or determining how to increase diversity and inclusiveness in publications—Judge Jones’ character and integrity are always present. She works cooperatively with bar colleagues to provide high-quality educational programs and publications. She is extremely proud of how she has been able to advocate that the ABA address a wider array of labor and employment law issues, especially issues essential to often marginalized individuals. For instance, at the 15th annual Labor and Employment Law Conference, Judge Jones spearheaded a keynote panel on the pivotal role that black and brown transgender women played in the civil rights movement. Judge Jones finds that her ABA work brings a pride and ownership that is as important as her “day” job(s) and permits her the opportunity to offer leadership to advance a keener understanding of labor and employment issues.

Judge Jones’ role as a public servant at the EEOC led to her recruitment and selection to be an Administrative Law Judge in 2017, becoming the first ever Black judge in the Knoxville, Tennessee office. This was an incredible honor to Jones because it reflected an acknowledgement and appreciation that she exhibited the highest professional qualifications and ethical standards. Judge Jones’ strengths include her ability to comprehend and analyze information quickly, listen and empathize, fairly evaluate situations, and synthesize solutions to issues that present themselves. “At my core, I am an advocate and truth-seeker. I also enjoy helping people navigate systems that they do not understand or lack the capability to understand.”

Judge Jones’ commitment to public service and practical problem-solving motivated her to look for additional opportunities to share her knowledge and expertise regarding labor and employment law. As such, with appropriate approval from internal ethics officers, Judge Jones started Omega Daughter, LLC to educate and assist others to resolve labor and employment issues and foster strong preventative practices to elevate workplaces. Notably, this business idea was born while Judge Jones worked at the EEOC, when employer representatives often asked her upon completion of litigation to train their workforce and managers. The mutual respect that grew out of an adversarial relationship was one that she was proud to have fostered. Judge Jones was pleased that ideological differences did not affect civility and professionalism. In the future, Judge Jones’ vision for Omega Daughter, LLC is to continue working with not-for-profit organizations, as well as corporations, and expand services to include the following: mediations in employment discrimination and divorce cases and Executive coaching services.

Recently, her distinguished career was further honored when, in 2022, Judge Jones was inducted as a Fellow into The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. The Fellows are “recognized as distinguished members of the labor and employment community who promote achievement, advancement, and excellence in the practice by setting standards of professionalism and civility, by sharing their experience and knowledge and by acting as a resource for academia, the government, the judiciary and the community at large.” Before joining the workforce some twenty years ago, Judge Jones graduated from Duke University in 1997, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Drama, and Religion; and from The University of Tennessee College of Law in 2001, where she received her Juris Doctorate. Among her many achievements, Judge Jones made the Dean’s Lists at both institutions.
